Dr Kavish Hemal shah

I had the privilege of completing a clinical rotation with Dr. Sumita Mazumdar Ma'am in Poughkeepsie, New York, from May 1 to May 31, 2026. As my first clinical experience in the United States, this rotation provided an excellent introduction to the U.S. healthcare system and outpatient Internal Medicine.

Throughout the month, I was exposed to a wide variety of common medical conditions and gained valuable insight into preventive care, chronic disease management, and patient-centered medicine. One of the most rewarding aspects of the rotation was learning how clinical decision-making, continuity of care, and electronic medical records work together to improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Mazumdar Ma'am was an outstanding mentor who fostered a supportive learning environment and encouraged critical thinking through thoughtful case discussions. Beyond clinical knowledge, I learned the importance of compassionate communication, professionalism, and building meaningful relationships with patients.

I would also like to acknowledge the medical assistants, nurses, front desk staff, and the entire clinic team for being welcoming and supportive throughout my rotation. Their teamwork and dedication contributed greatly to a positive learning experience.

I am sincerely grateful to Dr. Mazumdar Ma'am and her team for their mentorship and guidance. I would also like to thank Dr. Hemant Bhatt Sir and the Shivani Bhatt Charitable Foundation (SBCF) for making this opportunity possible. This experience has strengthened my interest in Internal Medicine and provided valuable insight into outpatient care in the United States.
